Unclear on the concept

“Mommy, today is Jesus’s birthday.”

“Christmas is Jesus’s birthday.”

“No, Mommy. Hugh Hanley said today is Jesus’s birthday.”

“Who is Hugh Hanley?”

“He’s our music teacher. He said today is Jesus’s birthday.”

I started trying to calculate the ten days of Christmas. I’m not an expert on this stuff, so maybe there’s some finer point that Hugh Hanley knows but I’m unaware of. Also, I was a little bit wondering why her secular Kindergarten was teaching about Jesus.

She went on to clarify: “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Jesus was the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

“Do you mean Elvis?”

“Oh, yeah, right. Elvis”

“Is today Elvis’s birthday?”

“Yes. Hugh Hanley says today is Elvis’s birthday.”

    Awesome!
And Hugh is too. Or as he is known in my house “Huge, the music teacher” so I was surprised to meet him and find he wasn’t all that large.
